Zahir: From Experience to Purpose
Dental Pathways was the natural outcome of a journey shaped by personal experience, professional insight, and a deep connection to Turkey.
Zahir’s introduction to Turkey’s healthcare system was very personal. When his mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2019, the family was advised to seek treatment in Turkey – renowned for its medical expertise and high standards. Over several years, Zahir navigated hospitals, treatment plans, and medical networks while coordinating major healthcare decisions for his mother. He discovered how the system worked, learning how to access top-tier doctors, ethical providers, and transparency in a foreign market that could otherwise feel overwhelming.
But his exposure to challenges with dental care in Canada came even earlier. In 2017, his younger sister—a Type 1 diabetic—faced severe dental complications that resulted in the complete loss of her teeth. The treatment plan was a full mouth restoration, including extractions, All-on-4 dental implants, and a fixed zirconia bridge. The treatment in Vancouver cost CAD $57,000—so expensive that his father had to take out a new mortgage to afford it. In Turkey, Zahir realized they could have saved tens of thousands without sacrificing quality, if only they had known where to look.
Elif: An Insider's Guide
Elif, meanwhile, has spent more than a decade working inside Turkey’s healthcare system. Born and raised in Turkey, she built a career at global pharmaceutical leaders like GlaxoSmithKline and Novo Nordisk, collaborating with top doctors, clinics, and specialists across Istanbul. She understands how to navigate Turkey’s culture and medical landscape with confidence—from choosing ethical providers to ensuring international standards of care.
But beyond just healthcare, Turkey is also one of the most breathtaking destinations in the world. When Zahir and Elif met in 2019 (at the hospital where his mother was receiving treatment) she introduced him to a side of Turkey beyond its hospitals and clinics. Together, they traveled across the country, from Istanbul’s bustling streets to the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean, from the surreal landscapes of Cappadocia to the ancient ruins of Ephesus.
What began as a journey for medical care became something bigger—a realization that Turkey offers not just world-class healthcare, but also an incredible travel experience.
